So, this past weekend was Valentine's day....
Not so into the romantic aspect of such a holiday;
instead, I was inspired by Leslie Knopes'
(Amy Poehler's character on Parks 'n' Rec)
'Galentine's Day' festivities, so this one's for my girlz!

I usually have a lot on my mind, a lot of the time.....
I've always been like that.
Absent-minded...yet I manage pretty well.
It's called being accountable,
according to my super smart boyfriend...

When I need to refresh the noodle, I go to the beach,
or recently, I've been boxing;
and that usually does the trick.

Anyway, this is the point when it's time to refresh....

I thought I'd make valentine's day cards for my loved ones...
but, even though I started this drawing mid-January,
I still couldn't decide how I wanted to lay-out my greeting card,
choice of font, type of paper stock....
(this is what graphic design folks fret about)
I knew only that I wanted the image below,
and below that: por vida, on a ribbon...
and on the tattoo on my arm, that ribbon would say
 the name of the receiver of my greeting card.
(This card was meant for my best girl friends, cousins, siblings and mom.)

I'm not so into such fake holidays as Valentine's day, but,
I do really enjoy greeting cards, mail, writing letters...
oh, and did I mention I have a degree in Graphic Design-
it's what I do for my day job...so, it's a given that
I'd be really into making my own cards....

Anywhoot, I thought this illustration was kind of, silly....

I was thinking along the lines of:
'I love you so much I got this tattoo for you...'
Except, not in a weird, romantic way....
Eeeeeooook, I'll just stop writing and let the image speak for itself.

The one thing I DO, however wanna point out is what I learned from all this.
I realized it'd be best to just do, instead of fret over THE perfect card.
I'm not one for perfection anyway,
though I do think it's possible to come close sometimes...
The point being: less fretting, more action....

I finally compiled a playlist of my favorite songs of 2012.

Soooo, I'm no music critic here, as I did NOT title this playlist:

This is only a playlist of songs I listened to the most, so much in fact,

that I kinda got over some of the songs after hitting repeat so many times,

but as I was putting this list together, I remembered why 

I listened to them over and over and over...

Ordinary Is Extraordinary....12/28/2012...a not-so-punctual holiday greeting.....

So..... despite my delayed interest in the holiday season,
I managed to get it together and compose
this card,
which I mailed,
and am still mailing to friends and loved ones....

I think it captures the essence of this year for me: me and chaton, in good spirit (wine in hand all year long), the casual stance of chaton and I, the keep-it-cool stare, and don't forget the poppy- state flower of California- to remind you of my LOVE for this lovely city that people seem to really enjoy raggin' on.....

Anywhoot....I'll get all reflective on you in a coupla days.....

...not quite there yet with those watercolors,

but I'm working on it....

Maybe I'll get it when I'm 30....

But for now, this is how I'll be remembered as being 29.....
